I love these chips. Not because they're healthy. Because they're delicious. Here's how I make them (some of the pictures are rotated funny... I have no idea why blogger did this or how to fix it):
| First wash your kale well |
| Then tear big pieces off of the large center rib and place in a large bowl |
| Next add a little olive oil (just a bit, you can always add more but it'd be next to impossible to take it off) |
| Mix it around by hand until there's a *light* even coat |
| Sprinkle some nutritional yeast into the bowl (optional) |
| Mix again to distribute nutritional yeast |
| Lay the pieces out on your dehydrator trays (see note at bottom if you don't have a dehydrator) |
| This is just to show you that not everyone that blogs about dehydrating has an Excalibur. Don't get me wrong, I want one, but for now this garage sale find fits our budget much better :) |
Notes:
*The length of time on the dehydrator will depend on your machine. Keep an eye on them and test them when they look crispy. They should basically melt in your mouth when they're done.
*If you don't have a dehydrator you can make these in the oven or toaster oven. Just set it to the lowest setting and keep an eye on them. I made some in my toaster oven with it set to 150 for 2.5 hours.
*Want a fat free version? Skip the oil! They're still super yummy without it!
*Be careful- these are addictive! Bug and I ate a whole jar in one sitting today!
Hope that makes sense, enjoy!
