Alphabet Summer

I realize that summer is almost over, but for my own records and in case it helps someone else plan for next year I wanted to post our alphabet summer 'to do' list. Basically near the end of spring I start a list of activities to do during the summer that start with each letter of the alphabet. Sometimes things get changed mid-summer, and this year we're behind due to welcoming a new family member but I still want to do our best to finish. Oh and I never go in order. This year since the bug is old enough to get into it we've also been learning about the letters using the printables available here. I plan to post about most if not all the letters so I'll include links as I get those up. Here's our 2011 list:

A- Art (paint over a large canvas from thrift store or a drop cloth)
Aquarium
*B- Bubbles 
Butterflies (butterfly exhibit at the science center)
C- Cousins (get together with the girls- tea party maybe?)
D- Dinosaurs
*E- Embroidery (with burlap and safety needle)
F- Frog hunt w/Papa
*Fair (evergreen state fair)
*Fountain (local water play park)
G- Garden (
plant bug's garden)
*Gnomes ( paint your own garden gnome kit)
H- Homes (build a bee house and paint a bird house)
I- Insects (go on a bug hunt, learn about bugs)
J- Joy Jar (decorate a jar and fill it with things that make us happy)
K- Kite flying (at gas works)
L- Bug’s choice day (she picks meals and activity- within reason)
M- Mud pies (to play with and to eat)
Museum (imagine children's museum)
N- Nature scavenger hunt (at st edwards)
O- Ocean
*P- Picnic in the park
*Petting farm (in victoria)
Q- Quiet day

R- Rainbows
S- Stepping stones (make with grandma)
Science center
T- Tie dye
Tea set (paint your own kit)
*U- U-pick berry farm
*V- Vacation in Victoria
*W- Worms (build worm bin and read worm books)
X- XOXO (make cards for friends and family)
Y- Yard (work on making the yard more kid friendly)
Z- Zoo
Zipper hunt (take pictures of all the zippers we can find)
